Rosalind Elsie Franklin
Rosalind Elsie Franklin was a female scientist from Cambridge University. April 25, 1952, she published an article on the journal nature about the molecular structure of DNA.
Later on, she planned to give up on her DNA research. She joined the legendary crystallographer J.D Bernal to study the structure of viruses. Then she formed a team which would go on to discover the structure of the Tobacco Mosaic virus.
April 16, 1958, she had passed away due to ovarian cancer.
Dorothy Hodgkin
Dorothy was best known for her work in developing protein crystallography. She was a female scientists with lots of passion and intellect, she pushed the advancement in X-ray crystallography which was the tool to understand bio-molecule's three-dimensional structure.
In 1913, a father-son team had discovered that crystals produce patterns when subjected to X-ray bombardment.
William and Lawrence Bragg had formalized the laws of X-ray Crystallography. 1915, they won a Nobel prize for their work- Lawrence was the youngest winner to have won, at the age of 25.
